Exploring Paraty
In your free time you will be able to pass time in the many cafes, restaurants and art galleries that are now in the colonial buildings. The town is known for its delicious local cuisine, and is also one of the principal 'cachaça' (sugar cane spirit) distilling areas of Brazil, so do make sure you try some!
Paraty is surrounded by rugged beaches and many off-shore islands which can be reached by boat. Inland from the coast are many plantations, meaning that the town can be an ideal base for a couple of days of exploring by foot, boat or bicycle.
