Trinity Bay iceberg & whale tour

Humpback whale, Trinity Bay

Take a small boat trip into the Atlantic in search of the whales and marine life that call the area home.

The Atlantic waters around Trinity are home to a myriad of marine life, and in early summer icebergs can float down from Greenland. On this tour you’ll get the chance to spot whales, seabirds and other wildlife, feeling the salty spray from the ocean as you zip into Trinity Bay on your 12-person Zodiac. With a backdrop of sea caves and the craggy shoreline, you'll explore remote islands and spot the small communities of the bay.

Your captain stops the engine, and you listen for the puff that signals a whale coming up for air and spot the sleek black fins as they dive back into the deep. Set sail for a picturesque boat trip of Trinity Bay for your chance to see several species of whales including the fin, humpback, and sperm whale. You may also see other wildlife on your voyage, such as basking sharks, bluefin tuna, eagles, dolphins, seals and porpoises.

Your guides will tell you all about the wildlife of the bay and the history of the communities that live there. This is a chance for them to take photos that contribute to scientific study identifying individual whales. Your tour begins in Trinity Harbour to be equipped with a full floatation suit designed to keep you warm in the cool conditions on the water. The tour is about three hours in total.
