View of the Milky Way from the Atacama Desert

Astronomical Tour

Join a shared excursion to observe the vast night skies of the Atacama Desert. The altitude of the town as well as the remote location makes this one of the best spots for astronomy, for both amateurs and experts alike.

The tour starts with a brief geographical explanation of the sky and the main constellations as well as their historical and religious significations.

You will be able to use the large open-air telescopes to observe the southern Milky Way, possibly including a glimpse of Saturn's rings and moon craters, before returning to San Pedro for a warming drink.
