Itinerary idea in detail

Ask us if you would also like us to arrange your international flights at our preferred rates.

  • Arriving in San José, a private guide and driver will be waiting to welcome your family to Costa Rica. From the airport, a private vehicle will bring you to the city. After checking into your hotel, you can relax in the evening with panoramic views of the city.

  • Early in the morning, your family will be collected via a shared transfer and driven through the Braulio Carrillo National Park. After a stop for breakfast, you'll make your way over to the Caribbean coast, passing working banana plantations on the way. Part of the journey to your lodge takes you on a boat ride down the canals leading to Tortuguero National Park. This will be your first opportunity to spot wildlife in the water and along the treeline, as monkeys, birds, and lizards often line the shore. After settling into your lodge, your family will board a small motorboat to continue your safari.

  • Various shared tours and excursions are included as part of your stay, mainly to search for wildlife within the national park and the surrounding waterways. Keep your eyes peeled for any of four species of monkeys that play in the canopy and bright macaws screeching overhead. In your downtime, you can relax at the saline water pool or curl up in a hammock with a book by the water's edge.

  • You will get a different view of the park today as you board a light aircraft to fly to the town of La Fortuna, next to the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy the aerial views and mountain vistas on your way to the country's most famous volcano. On arrival your private driver will be there to meet your family and you'll have the rest of the day at leisure to explore on your own or relax at the hotel.

  • Today you'll have a chance to take to the hanging bridges near the base of Arenal mountain to learn about the flora and fauna of the area on this adult playscape. The walkways provide an ever-changing view as you wander past the century-old trees and take in the vistas. After, depending on your family's interests, you can experience zip-lining through those same trees on an adrenaline rushed adventure or take the more relaxed aerial tram for stunning view of Arenal.

  • A must-see on any trip to Costa Rica is the quiet but elusive sloth, which hides in the forest canopy surrounding Arenal. Your private guide will take you to some of their best hiding spots so you can observe this animal with a spotting scope. After, your family will head to a nearby cacao plantation to learn how one of the country's most famous products is made—and of course, sample the different varieties of chocolate produced.

  • To finish the trip, we've suggested a couple of days of fun and sun at Nosara Beach. This isn't just a beautiful stretch of sand; it is also a great place for surfing, paddleboarding, horse riding, fishing, and yoga. There is something for everyone, and the hotel will assist your family in being as active or relaxed as you wish.

  • Today your family will visit Playa Guiones, one of the country's best beaches for learning to surf. Your guide will discuss your experience levels and design the excursion to fit your abilities — from beginner to experienced ensuring a fun-filled day out for all.

  • Spend an afternoon on an electric boat touring the mangroves and estuaries surrounding the hotel. This leisurely exploration will give you a last chance for up close encounters with the area's wildlife; birds, turtles and even crocodiles.

  • As your time in Costa Rica comes to an end, your driver will escort you to the international airport with plenty of time to find your departing flight.
