Martinis Marchi Heritage Hotel

Martinis Marchi

Šolta, Croatia

Dating back to 1706 when a band of Venetian brothers were given permission from the government to build a castle in exchange for colonizing the 12-mile-long island of Šolta, this fairytale-like boutique hotel is magical.

There are just seven classically styled suites built around a pretty open-air central courtyard, all of which feature carefully selected antiques sourced from Europe and a decor scheme that remains true to the building’s original architecture. There’s also a heated outdoor pool lined with loungers, a large garden for relaxing with a book or relaxing with a glass of fine Croatian wine, and an excellent restaurant for Dalmatian cuisine and picturesque views of the marina.

OUR OPINION:

We love the fairytale vibe, attentive service, and soothing decor at this converted castle located in the charming fishing port of Maslinica on the beautiful Dalmatian island of Šolta.

Rooms

Arranged around a pretty central courtyard, the hotel’s seven suites are individually designed and named after historical figures that shaped the castle’s history. All feature meticulously restored antique furniture sourced from across Europe, wooden flooring, vaulted ceilings, soft lighting, and comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton linens. Modern amenities include a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, minibar, safe, air conditioning, Wi-Fi access, and a bathroom with a bathtub or walk-in shower. Every suite affords spectacular views of the pool or sea (some offer both).
