After your tour or morning activities you will be driven from Tikal approximately 23 km through bumpy jungle roads to begin your Uaxactun camping adventure.
You will arrive late afternoon and have ample time to explore the campsite and rest a little before climbing the canopy tower with your guide to watch the sunset and enjoy drinks and canapés.
You will then travel to a local home for a freshly prepared evening meal using simple local ingredients. After dinner there may be the opportunity to climb one of the temples to look at the stars before you are driven back to the campsite for the night.
The following morning your guide will accompany you on a comprehensive guided tour of the Maya ruins at Uaxactun. The city was occupied between 500 BC until its abandonment in 889 AD and entered the Classic Period at the same as Tikal. Being almost its equal in power, it was only eventually conquered by Tikal in 378 AD after a bloody war.
After your tour of the site you will travel to the village of Uaxactun for a hearty breakfast and there will also be the opportunity to visit the small museum of artifacts. You will then be driven out of Uaxactun and the Tikal National Park for your onward arrangements.

Yaxha, q'equchi' for green water, is located 73 km from Flores. This Maya site, discovered in 1904 by architect Teobert Maler, is situated within the Maya Biosphere Reserve along with the sites of Nakum and El Naranjo.
