Cortile Budapest Hotel

Cortile Budapest Hotel

Budapest, Hungary

This adults-only boutique hotel is situated within walking distance of Budapest’s main sights, cultural spots and nightlife. It has a bright, modern style, with neutral shades balanced by splashes of blue, green, pink and purple, as well as tropical prints. Lush plants, large mirrors, and exposed metal beams add to the fresh, contemporary feel of the communal spaces.

As soon as you enter, you’re greeted with the property’s own house scent, while automatic lighting follows your journey through the corridors to your room. With just 39 rooms, the hotel has an intimate, personal feel. You can choose from four nature-inspired room styles: Flora, Terra, Moss, and Sky, though all come with the same amenities.

One of the property’s main draws is its rooftop terrace, which gives you excellent views over the city, particularly at night when the rooftops of key landmarks are lit up. You’ll also find a large heated swimming pool here, encased in glass so you can continue to enjoy the views.

The hotel has a focus on eco-friendly practices, using solar and geothermal energy, LED lighting, and detergents that are kind to the environment. It also has a paper-free office and sources as many breakfast ingredients as possible from the local area.

OUR OPINION:

For us, the standout feature of the Cortile is its roof terrace and pool — head there for views over the citadel, basilica, and opera house. We also like the hotel’s fresh, modern style and intimate feel.

Rooms

The property’s 39 rooms are split between four nature-inspired styles. Flora rooms are decorated with jungle-themed prints, Terra rooms have deep, earthy shades, Moss rooms are, unsurprisingly, dominated by greens, while Sky rooms have light-blue walls painted with clouds.

All have enormous en-suite showers (note that some bathrooms are glass-walled, but have a curtain for privacy), a wall-to-wall window that floods the room with natural light, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and sound proofing to ensure an undisturbed sleep.

Location

The Cortile sits on a narrow residential street on the Pest side of the river. Here, you’re away from the bustle of the city’s heart, but still within an easy walk of the river, restaurants and bars and key sights like the basilica.
