The clean white lines of the historic Masseria Montelauro rise up from the end of a gated driveway. Staffed by a wonderfully welcoming and accommodation group of hosts, this boutique property has a comfortable, laid-back atmosphere where guests feel as though they’re in a home away from home. A warm reception area greets new arrivals with a rustic fireplace and plush sofas. The same welcoming nature extends to the guest rooms. Each of the 25 rooms is decorated in a simple yet stylish way with a nod to the original architecture of the masseria. Vaulted stone ceilings top white walls and furnishings all accented by black wrought iron bed frames, lamps, and mirror frames. Some rooms also offer a bit of outdoor area in the form of terraces.

Beyond the guest rooms, the grounds of the property offer olive trees and plenty of purple-topped lavender bushes which lend a delicate perfume to the air in the springtime. The spacious pool is surrounded by a stone pool deck and plenty of seating. Also located in the gardens, the hotel’s restaurant serves up traditional Italian cuisine in a peaceful setting. Guests can dine under a vine-covered pergola where twinkling white lights weave in and out of the vines lending a magical atmosphere to any dining experience. For guests looking for more dining options and the facilities of a town, Otranto is less than ten minutes away by taxi.

With just 25 rooms, there is a familiar, boutique feel to this property. Rooms all feature the same decor which recalls the traditional architecture of the original masseria structure. Stone vaulted ceilings and white walls and linens create a bright, sunny atmosphere in the guest rooms. Black accents in the form of wrought iron headboards and antique lamps offer a tasteful and stylish flair to the otherwise whitewashed interiors. Some rooms have outdoor terraces which offer easy access to the gardens and the pool area. Each room is equipped with Wi-Fi and centrally controlled air conditioning.

Location

The Masseria Montelauro is located in the countryside close to Otranto. Surrounded by olive groves and working farms, the property offers a real sense of relaxation away from it all. Although there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, Otranto is located just a short taxi ride away. Here you'll find a wide selection of restaurants and some shopping.

Food and drink

The hotel’s restaurant serves a tasty menu of local dishes for both lunch and dinner. A simple breakfast is served in the same dining area in the mornings. A beautifully rustic outdoor area is open for dining in nice weather. Tables sit under a vine-covered pergola decorated with tiny, twinkling lights in the evenings which creates a lovely ambience for a relaxing meal.

Facilities and activities

A spacious swimming pool surrounded by freshly cut grass is located in the hotel’s gardens with plenty of sun loungers available for guests looking to relax. A small spa, located in an outhouse, offers a variety of treatments on request.
