Itinerary idea in detail

Ask us if you would also like us to arrange your international flights at our preferred rates.

  • On arrival in Madagascar, you’ll be met by your driver and assisted with currency exchange before being driven to your hotel in Antananarivo, close to the airport. The rest of the day is yours to relax before your adventure fully begins.

  • This morning you'll be collected by your driver and English-speaking guide, who’ll drive for around five hours through the mountainous central plateau to Andasibe National Park. Your lodge is located in the heart of Andasibe, Madagascar’s renowned rainforest reserve and home to some of the country’s best wildlife. This evening you may like to go on a forest night walk where your guide will point out the nocturnal lemurs, frogs and chameleons.

  • Today you may like to spend the day exploring the Perinet Reserve, visiting the indri and the other lemur species found in this area. The indri have a distinctive haunting cry that can be heard in the early mornings. In the afternoon, you may want to explore the park further, looking out for the numerous reptiles found here and wandering through the wonderful vegetation this park is home to.

  • Your lodge is conveniently close to the main private reserves and national parks, ensuring that you can choose where exactly you’d like to go. Today we recommend traveling to the nearby Mantadia National Park. The wildlife here is quite different, and you may be able to see diademed sifaka. The forest here has a prehistoric feel and is one of the area's last pockets of true primary rainforest.

  • After another walk in the forest this morning, your driver will meet you and take you back to Antananarivo through the scenic escarpment region. On arriving back in the capital, you may like to spend the afternoon exploring the historic old town on a city tour with an experienced guide.

  • Early this morning, your driver will collect you and take you to the airport, where you’ll check in for your light aircraft flight to Anjajavy. After around two hours, you’ll land on the dirt airstrip and be welcomed by the camp staff, before being driven to the lodge. Anjajavy has a beautiful setting on the northwest coast, surrounded by wild forest.

  • There are many activities to choose from at Anjajavy. The staff will be able to advise you of the options and various costs. We suggest a walk with a guide in the private nature reserve as it has some beautiful tsingy, huge baobabs and plentiful wildlife.

  • Today is yours to relax at Anjajavy or enjoy further activities. There are many places to unwind here, from by the pool, to the beach or even in your hammock on your own personal deck. In the afternoon, you may like to go for tea in the Oasis garden, a tranquil spot where brown lemurs and Coquerel's sifakas are often seen.

  • During your stay at Anjajavy, we recommend taking a shared boat trip to Moramaba Bay to see the pristine beaches and beautiful landscapes. The area is often likened to Halong Bay in Vietnam due to its limestone formations emerging from the sea. Your captain and guide will take you around the islands and highlight the baobabs growing on islets. Below water, you can expect to see sea turtles and tropical fish when snorkeling.

  • A trip to Anjajavy is not complete without a night walk, offering the chance to see Madagascar’s nocturnal wildlife in its natural habitat. Leaving at dusk and accompanied by a guide, you’ll travel through the forest looking for mouse lemurs, chameleons, scop owls and nightjars who are typically active at this time. The walks typically last between 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes.

  • If you’re looking to soak in the scenery, a beautiful coastal path can be followed which leads to five beach coves. The furthest is an hour's walk away from the lodge, and you will often spot a variety of flora and fauna on your route.

  • For those feeling more adventurous, you may like to make use of the variety of activities available from Anjajavy. Catamaran sailing trips, windsurfing, mountain biking, snorkeling and kayaking on the sea or in mangrove swamps are all included within the cost of your stay and offer different ways to experience your surroundings.

  • This morning you’ll say goodbye to Anjajavy and be driven to the airstrip for the flight back to Antananarivo. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to international departures for your flight home.
