Located about six kilometers from Twizel town center, is a unique accommodation that allows you to take in the stunning Mackenzie countryside and the night stars. Skyscape is situated on a private high-country farm and is predominantly made of glass. In the room you have a king-sized bed, an outdoor bath tub, and indoor shower and bathroom, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. During your stay you can join the owners on an optional farm tour (extra expense) or enjoy relaxing and taking in the magnificent scenery, where parts of the Lord of the Rings were filmed.
This self-contained building is purpose-built to enjoy the outside views both during the day and night. Three walls are made of glass and look over the Mackenzie Basin and the surrounding mountains. In the room you have a king bed, a compact kitchenette, air conditioning, an en suite bathroom with a shower, an outdoor bath tub, and sitting area.
This single use property is situated high above the valley in Twizel, but within a 15-minute drive to the town and about an hour drive from the Mount Cook Village. Due to its remote location, at night you have uninterrupted views of the night sky.
The property is self-contained with a compact kitchenette and en suite. Parking is available on site, as Skyscape does need to be accessed with a self-drive vehicle. Despite the seemingly remote aspect of the property, it's only a 10-minute drive to the town of Twizel if you wished to explore the region or have dinner at Shawtys or Poppies. To thoroughly escape on your first night there, your hosts can provide a luxurious platter of local produces such as Twizel smoked salmon, cured meats, cheeses and breads. In the morning there are basic breakfast provisions in the room.
The property is situated on a working farm and the owner is more than happy to show you around their farm to see some of the livestock, their shepherding and how their family works the land. There are plenty of walking tracks across the property if you wish to explore the surrounding landscape.
This is a really unique, and vary comfortable, way of experiencing the wild beauty of New Zealand.
