China, Japan, Sri Lanka & Maldives Specialist

My passion for travel first started while I was studying International Relations in England, France, and Italy during my time at university. I’ve since been around the globe, visiting Africa, Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Europe. Most notably, I lived in China teaching English where I took the opportunity to explore Asia and became intrigued by the geographic and cultural juxtapositions throughout the region.

After working in the retail industry in global sourcing, I decided to turn my love of travel into a career. Since joining Audley, I’ve returned to China and traveled extensively through Sri Lanka, Japan, and the Maldives.

When not planning my next adventure, I enjoy everything music-related, discovering new food spots in Boston and doing anything active.

Yangshuo, China

I recommend visiting - Yangshuo, China

After traveling from Guilin along the Li River, I was blown away by the beauty of the limestone peaks, winding rivers, and lush farmlands of the surrounding countryside. There are countless ways to relax and discover the countryside.

My best memories include cycling along the riverbank, through farmlands and villages and then taking a bamboo raft down the Yulong River. Other memorable experiences include a cooking class and seeing the Liu Sanjie performance, which is an incredible water-based show from the choreographer of the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.

Hatton, Sri Lanka

I recommend staying at - Ceylon Tea Trails, Castlereagh Bungalow, Sri Lanka

Deluxe

Set in the heart of Sri Lanka’s Tea country are the Ceylon Tea Trails, which to me epitomize the Sri Lankan experience. Made up of five restored colonial era tea planter bungalows, located across some of the most scenic tea plantations in the region, you can fully immerse yourself in Tea Country.

These luxury bungalows offer an unbeatable all-inclusive experience where you’ll taste traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, learn about the tea making process, walk through working tea plantations, all with the comfort and service of the Relais & Chateaux properties.

I'll never forget when…

My most memorable experience from my recent trip to China was a visit to the Songzanlin Monastery in Zhongdian, also known as Shangri-la. The Songzanlin Monastery is the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan and houses over 800 monks, one of which I was lucky enough to meet. The Monastery has a tangible effect on you and you can spend hours there soaking up the calming atmosphere, observing daily life of the resident monks, or admiring the 300 year old art and architecture.
