Guided tour of Suleymaniye Mosque
Guided tour of Suleymaniye Mosque, Turkey
Commissioned by Süleyman the Magnificent and designed by Architect Sinan, the Suleymaniye Mosque dominates Istanbul’s skyline.
It was the fourth imperial mosque built in Istanbul and unusually, its surrounding buildings have been retained and adapted for modern use. Inside, the mosque is less ornate than some but still intricately decorated in places with Iznik tiles, mother of pearl inlays and beautiful stained glass windows.
