Engagi Lodge is a small, simple lodge located just outside of the Bwindi park headquarters at Buhoma, where you start and end your gorilla tracking excursions. The name, meaning "gorilla" is derived from the local Rukiga language which is spoken in and around Bwindi.
There are eight cottages located on the property, all of which boast views of the forest valley and hills opposite from the comfort of their balconies. Each has double or twin beds and en suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets. The rooms are fairly simple in their design and decoration, but are perfectly comfortable. The main bar and restaurant area, however, is excellent; very stylishly designed and decorated. It's a lovely place to relax and soak up the views in very peaceful surroundings, and gorillas have been known to come into the grounds of the lodge.
The main activity is obviously the gorilla tracking, however guests can also enjoy several private walking trails around the lodge and down to the Munyaga River. It is also possible to visit a neighboring tea farm if you're interested.

Tracking mountain gorilla is one of Africa's most superb wildlife experiences. It is difficult to describe the exhilaration attached to first setting eyes on a wild mountain gorilla.View details
