The Argonaut is a boutique hotel located in the famous Fisherman’s Wharf area of the city, boasting excellent views of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The hotel's original red brick is combined with nautical décor to offer guests a unique and welcoming stay. All rooms are large by San Francisco standards and tastefully continue the nautical theme, providing peaceful spaces in which guests can relax after exploring the city. Guests may also indulge in a spa treatment or keep active in the fitness center, while the on site restaurant has the feel of a wooden ship, decorated with rustic timber, mermaid figurines and thick braids of rope.
The rooms and suites couple marine colors and nautical furnishings with the classic red brick of the original building. They feature a king or queen size bed, or two queen size beds, along with amenities such as HDTVs, hairdryers, safes and en suite bathrooms with toiletries provided.
The entry-level rooms offer an interior view, which makes them a quieter option, and can also be connected to accommodate families. Deluxe rooms offer the same amenities but provide views of the hotel courtyard, Victorian Park or downtown San Francisco, while Bay View rooms are slightly larger, featuring a king size bed and stunning views over the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz. There are also three types of suite, each of which comes with a lounge area, in addition to a king bed, with the Specialty Suite offering fantastic panoramic views over the whole bay.
Accessible rooms and suites are also available, equipped with features such as grab bars, handheld or roll-in showers and special communications features, and there are even 'tall rooms' with extra-long beds and raised shower heads.
The Argonaut is situated in Fisherman’s Wharf, which is home to a wide range of dining options and activities. The hotel is just a short walk from the ferry terminal, which operates regular ferries to Alcatraz. There's also a bicycle hire shop next door, providing the perfect opportunity for guests to explore the bay area on two wheels, perhaps cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge.
The hotel’s on site restaurant, the Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar, serves a range of fresh seafood dishes, along with a variety of beverages, in a relaxed setting. Many good restaurants in Fisherman’s Wharf are also just a short walk from the hotel and are well worth exploring.
Families can be accommodated in connecting rooms or in twin rooms.
The hotel offers a well-equipped 24 hour fitness center and a spa that offers a variety of treatments. A yoga mat is provided in each room for private exercise and meditation.
The hotel provides a number of accessibility features throughout, including an accessible entrance with pathway, an accessible reception area, restaurant and fitness center, accessible toilets and a variety of accessible rooms and suites to choose from.
This is a good, reputable hotel with an excellent location right on the waterfront. While the location is busy and there may be some street noise heard in some of the rooms, the views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge are excellent.
