I first went to Southern Africa at 19, driven by a passion for wildlife and conservation. During a two-week volunteering experience on a horse safari ranch in Zimbabwe, I spent my days riding among giraffes, zebras, kudu, impala, and a wealth of other wildlife. I quickly fell in love not only with the region's incredible landscapes and animals but also with its culture, cuisine, and way of life.
Two years later, I returned to Zimbabwe as a volunteer coordinator, spending two months on the ranch while also visiting Victoria Falls and Chobe National Park. A trip to South Africa during this time reignited my passion for the continent and inspired me to explore it further.
Since joining Audley, I have completed a four-week educational trip across South Africa, deepening my destination knowledge and expertise. Combining these experiences with my personal connection to the region allows me to create authentic, tailor-made journeys and help clients discover the magic of Southern Africa for themselves.

Q&A with Amelia
What’s your most vivid travel moment?
Whilst on safari in the Eastern Cape, we were lucky enough to spot a rare black-footed cat just before nightfall. As we watched, our guide noticed movement further away, which turned out to be a cheetah with her three cubs hiding in the bush. It was my first sighting of both species in the wild, and the excitement of witnessing such rare wildlife in a single evening is something I'll never forget. It's moments like these that make every safari unique and keep me coming back to Africa.
What tips would you give people who want to visit your specialty destination?
Combine a safari with time in Cape Town and the Winelands. South Africa's variety is what makes it so special, and experiencing its wildlife, landscapes, and food culture creates a memorable and well-rounded trip.
Where would you love to travel next?
Namibia is definitely at the top of my list. The dramatic desert landscapes, incredible wildlife, and remote wilderness have always fascinated me, and I'd love to experience the contrast between the dunes of Sossusvlei and the wildlife-rich Etosha National Park.
