Inspired by my mother’s stories of her international travels, I’d always dreamed of travelling abroad in college. Drawn to Australia, I packed up for my first time leaving North America and landed in Sydney. The moment I laid eyes on the iconic Sydney Opera house I fell in love with the city. The more I explored the vast landscapes of the country, the more I came to love the Red Centre of the Outback, the lush rainforest and incredible marine life of the Great Barrier Reef, the culture and energy of the cities, and the warm, welcoming Australian people.
Since then, I’ve made travelling a priority in my life and the lives of my family. As much as I will always enjoy exploring new destinations, nothing can match the love I have for Australia, and I love to share that passion to help my clients love it too.

Q&A with Ann

What's your most vivid travel moment?
My first time diving was off Cape Tribulation. As I got used to the sensation of breathing underwater, I spied a reef shark heading our way. My initial terror gave way to fascination at how smoothly it cut through the water. After the dive, our guides took our small group through the nearby Daintree Rainforest, where we walked through a jungle path to a waterfall that felt like a hidden secret. To be able to experience a place where the rainforest meets the reef was surreal. I’ve since explored reefs in Mexico, Thailand, Tahiti and Hawaii, but have never seen another shark that close.

Where would you travel to next?
I would love to travel to Africa and go on safari to have a chance to see lions, leopards, and elephants in their natural habitat, and witness the Great Migration. I want to be able to hear the sounds of wildlife at night (from the safety of my room!) and see the incredible Victoria Falls — it would be a bucket list trip and one I can’t wait to experience with my family.

Your best piece of travel advice when planning a trip to Australia and New Zealand?
Australia is immense, so understand that climates vary significantly between regions (tropical north, cooler south, hot inland) and seasons are reversed from the Northern Hemisphere. Especially since you will undoubtedly be exploring outside in Australia, I would advise packing layers, even for summer. Being comfortable can really make a difference in your experience.
