Les Maisons de Léa

Honfleur, France

Located in the heart of Honfleur just steps from the medieval Saint-Catherine’s Church and the bustling restaurant-lined port, Les Maisons de Léa is ideally situated and bursting with character. The hotel is set in a large 16th-century building, once a salt warehouse, and it expertly uses the historic nature of the structure to create an air of understated elegance. It's an intimate place with attentive service and a gourmet restaurant with wood beams, large stone fireplace and refined cuisine showcasing the best of Normandy.

No two rooms at Les Maisons de Léa look alike. Uniquely decorated using regional fabrics and artwork, they follow subtle themes that range from classical French elegance to modern minimalism.

Each room at the hotel is individually decorated in one of a variety of styles, from a subtle nautical theme in the Captain rooms to muted florals in the Romance rooms. The contemporary minimalism of the Jardin rooms is tempered by direct access to the hotel's hanging garden. A natural theme has been chosen for the luxurious suites, which are named after plants and spices such as bergamot or cannelle (cinnamon). The suites all have their own separate lounge area and some feature open fireplaces or whirlpool baths. All rooms are quite spacious and feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen televisions.

Les Maisons de Léa is just steps from the impressive 15th-century half-timbered Saint-Catherine’s Church in the heart of Honfleur. The Vieux Bassin (old port) is also just a short walk away, where you can stroll along the waterfront with brightly painted fishing boats bobbing in the water on one side and a long line of seafood restaurants on the other. Bayeux and the D-Day beaches are approximately an hour and half away by car.

Food and Drink

A continental breakfast with homemade jams, pastries and freshly made juices can be enjoyed either in your room, in the hotel’s Restaurant de Charme or, weather permitting, outdoors on the terrace with views of the half-timbered church. In the afternoon and evening, the restaurant offers a set menu as well as an à la carte menu featuring a range of regional dishes.

Facilities and Activities

The hotel's intimate Spa Nuxe offers a number of rejuvenating massages using natural plant extracts and local ingredients as well as a range of luxurious skin and body treatments. There is also a small hammam (traditional steam room). All rooms have coffee and tea facilities and some have an espresso machine.

Our opinion

Grand yet intimate, Les Maisons de Léa is ideally located in a historic building on the main square in the heart of Honfleur. Service is impeccable and the wood-beamed ceilings, large fireplaces and refined fabrics give it a chic and charming air.
