Located at the end of The Mall on the edge of town in the traffic free zone, The Cecil is an institution and the best hotel in Shimla. It has been beautifully renovated by the Oberoi group. Originally built in 1884, it once hosted Mahatma Gandhi. Its wood paneled interiors, luxurious bedrooms, heated indoor swimming pool and wonderful Banyan Tree Spa continue to attract political figures and celebrities.
