Dwarika's Sanctuary

This lovely property is situated among pristine forests of pine, rhododendron, and apple trees, 45 minutes from Kathmandu and 30 minutes from Dhulikhel city. The Dwarika's Sanctuary is located at an altitude of 1,700 m (5,577 ft), allowing the freedom of a 180-degree view of the mighty Himalaya, the Kavrepalanchok valley below, and the most amazing sunrises and sunsets.

The resort is spread across gentle slopes, and the 36 comfortable rooms come in two different categories. The 'Newari' rooms have most character, whereas the 'Gurung' rooms are a bit further up the mountain, have a larger window, and thus offer slightly better views. The restaurant and reception are located in an attractive building that — although Nepal has not been colonized at any stage in its history — has a subtle colonial feel to it.
