Change location
Privately run and deceptively simple, the Hope Street Hotel appears to be decidedly minimalist on first glance but take a closer look and you’ll find the warm woods and exposed brick are complemented by a meticulous attention to detail.
In addition to fine linens, top-of-the-line electronics and toiletries, and complimentary shoe shine, you can expect hand-stitched leather key tags and in-room touches such as hot water bottles, cufflinks and bow ties. The rooms are sleek and uncluttered with clean lines and abundant natural light, while the bathrooms feature large baths as well as showers.
The hotel is located on the culturally-rich Hope Street, near the Liverpool Philanthropic Hall and the Everyman Theatre, and its award-winning restaurant The London Carriage Works is a popular pre-show dining venue. A coach and carriage shop in the late 1800s, the original sign was discovered during renovations and was preserved along with the workshop’s original safe. Inside, however, it is bright and buzzing and serves a finely-crafted menu of modern British dishes.
The hotel also has a small gym, a DVD and audiobook library, and offers in-room entertainment for children.
Spacious, bright and restrained, the rooms at the Hope Street Hotel are indulgent but understated with solid-wood floors, wooden furnishings, exposed brick and crisp white linens. Large windows bathe the rooms in light and all have oversized beds and a generous range of amenities including air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, phone chargers, Sky TV and plush robes and slippers. The sleek, minimalist bathrooms are stocked with REN toiletries and most have a rain-dance showerhead as well as a large bathtub.
The hotel is located in the Georgian Quarter, surrounded by several highly-recommended restaurants, museums, historical sites and live performance venues including the Liverpool Philanthropic Hall and the Everyman Theatre. Other major attractions, such as the Albert Dock, the Cavern Club and the Baltic Quarter are all within 30 minutes on foot, or a short taxi ride away.
Open seven days a week, The London Carriage Works restaurant serves a highly-regarded modern British menu which includes a generous buffet breakfast accompanied by a range of cooked items, a simple prix fixe lunch, and decadent dinners. The top floor terrace, bar and The Old Bookroom are convivial spots to gather and enjoy a drink before heading out and exploring Liverpool’s nightlife.
The hotel stocks a range of vital supplies, such as changing mats and cleaning wipes and will arrange for baby cots and babysitting services upon request. Available in-room entertainment includes toys, DVDs and crayons.
The hotel has a compact gym, a DVD and audiobook library, and can arrange for spa treatments in guests’ own rooms. Toys, crayons, DVDs and complimentary popcorn are available upon request for younger guests. Complimentary ironing, shoe polishing and Wi-Fi are provided, as well as a concierge, business services, laundry and dry cleaning.
We love the natural beauty of lighter hues of wood and red brick which gives this classy hotel an intimate, almost spa-like feeling. Oversized rooms, helpful staff, and a wonderful restaurant make this a fantastic choice.
