Residence Hill Bed & Breakfast
Hosts Bev and Rob ensure a memorable stay at their small town B&B in Sheridan, Wyoming. Guests are welcomed like old friends and treated like family with drinks on the porch on arrival, snacks in the rooms and the smell of freshly-baked bread wafting from the kitchen.
The B&B is set in a large Victorian home with plenty of character. Home cooked breakfasts are served at a long communal table, guests can relax in the 'Great Room' which is decorated with curios from the owners' world travels, and coffee on the graceful front porch can turn into a chat with new friends.
The decor throughout is homely with a fine balance between Victorian elegance and modern amenities. There are just five guest rooms, individually decorated in contrasting styles. Some have a Western influence, some African and others feel like a home away from home. Each has a large-screen TV with cable television, an iron and ironing board, and complimentary Wi-Fi. A massage therapist can be booked in advance.
The B&B is situated in a quaint town midway between Yellowstone and the Black Hills and makes a pleasant and convenient stopover between the two attractions.

The five rooms each have their own character and personal charm. The elegant Moss Creek Suite is warm and homely with a bright tapestry on the wall and a carved wooden screen separating the bathroom from the bedroom. The African room features curios and tribal crafts from the owners' travels, while Powder River channels cowboy culture with wooden furniture, bridles and bits on the walls, and chaps hanging outside the door. Harry's room offers a strong sense of a home from home with simple decor and bookshelves packed with well-thumbed novels. It shares a bathroom with the Key West room with its maritime decor. All rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi and large-screen TVs.
Sheridan is a small and rather sleepy town with a selection of historic buildings and an authentic Western charm. Residence Hill B&B is five minutes' walk from the main shopping street and a five minute drive from Trail End State Historic Site, a Flemish Revival mansion. The town sits almost midway between Yellowstone National Park and the Black Hills and makes a good stopping off point between the two attractions.
Food and drink
At Residence Hill breakfast is served at a large communal table in a family style so guests can meet each other. Along with convivial conversation there's the smell of freshly-ground coffee and home-baked bread and bagels. Eggs are cooked to order along with pancakes, bacon and sausages. Bev and Rob are happy to recommend local restaurants for dinner and can make bookings in advance.
We love the warm welcome, genial hosts and personal service at this small town B&B. The spacious rooms have plenty of character and the convivial atmosphere makes a stay far more memorable than a night in most hotels.
