To me, travel is about embracing new experiences, trying unfamiliar flavours and exploring unique places. This sense of adventure sparked my love of travel from a young age.
A passion for scuba diving has taken me to several corners of the world. Recently, I embarked on a two-month trip to the Caribbean coast with a particular focus on underwater exploration and conservation. This evolved into a yearlong journey around Central America where I visited Mayan ruins, tackled white-water rapids on the Pacuare River, and immersed myself in the extraordinary biodiversity of the Monteverde Cloud Forest. More recently, I returned to Costa Rica and Mexico on an Audley research trip, where my love for local cuisine, the rich culture, and diverse landscapes deepened further.
These experiences continue to inspire me in my role as a travel specialist. I strive to create meaningful and memorable journeys, helping others discover the world in ways that genuinely resonate with them.

Q&A with Lucy
What's your most vivid travel moment?
White-water rafting on the Pacuare River is undoubtedly my most memorable and vivid travel moment. Crashing through the class four rapids, I was at the mercy of nature's raw power and unpredictable strength. This exhilarating experience was followed by a moment of profound peace and mental clarity when the rapids came to an end, and we were met with calm waters. Floating down the river, we reached the infamous canyon as it cuts through the untouched tropical rainforest. As the gorge levelled out, we found ourselves in one of Costa Rica's many wildlife hotspots. Sloths, toucans, snakes and howler monkeys surrounded us — a nature lover's paradise!
What tips would you give for people who want to visit your speciality destination?
Find a pair of quick-drying trousers that zip at the knee and can be easily converted into shorts. Unsurprisingly, the weather in the rainforest is highly unpredictable, so a pair of lightweight and durable trousers is essential. Not only do they keep the bugs at bay and offer sun protection, but their quick-drying abilities keep you comfortable after a rainfall or river crossing. Better yet, a pair with removable legs can help you cool off when needed.
What's the best local dish you've tasted?
Mole is a traditional Mexican sauce typically paired with chicken, pork or beef along with rice and corn tortillas. Known for its complex recipes, the national dish can include over 30 different ingredients, most notably, chocolate and hot chillies. With several variations to try, flavours can vary from smoky to sweet, spicy, nutty and earthy. Oaxaca is particularly well-known for this dish and is often referred to as the 'land of the seven moles'. The intricate balance of flavours makes this dish a must-try for any food lover!
