Witness the northern lights in some of Lapland’s darkest locations, guided by a local.
From a hazy purple glow to rippling ribbons of neon green and flashes of hot magenta, the northern lights are a natural performance relatively few get to see — and Finnish Lapland is one of the best places on Earth to witness them. With a private guide at your side, you’ll leave behind light pollution to seek out the aurora in secluded locations known for their clear, dark nights. Following the sky and not the clock, you’re free to linger under the spectacle with a hot drink and a campfire-cooked meal.
Setting off from your hotel after dark, your guide will drive you to a remote location, away from any crowds and artificial lights. Together, you’ll search for the natural phenomena, a vivid result of collisions between gas molecules and electrically charged particles, best seen in pitch-black skies. Due to the aurora’s nature, what you witness could vary widely, from a diffused haze to shimmering curtains of light to streaks of colour, or sometimes just a faint glow on the horizon.
As part of the three-hour experience, you’ll sip hot drinks accompanied with gingerbread cookies as you watch the display unfold. Transfers to and from your hotel are also included.
