Itinerary idea in detail

With international flights from a choice of airports including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Your trip will start as you arrive in Berlin and are met by a private guide to take you to your hotel. The afternoon is yours to settle in and begin exploring the city, visit a museum or enjoy your first German meal at one of Berlin’s many excellent restaurants.

  • Begin exploring this formerly divided city with a relic of the past, the Trabant. This extremely basic car was an iconic part of the former East Germany, and you can tour the city driving one of your own while your personal guide relays directions and historical facts to you over the radio. After, continue to see what Berlin has to offer.

  • Today, use the most common method of transport in the country, the train, as you venture an hour and a half to the city of Leipzig. You’ll be met by your local guide who will give you a private tour of the city, after which you’ll have time to continue exploring on your own. Make your way back to Berlin by train.

  • Take the high-speed train to your next stop, the port city of Hamburg, a journey of around two hours after which you’ll be met at the station and driven to your hotel. Once you’re checked in, meet your guide for an afternoon walking tour that details how the city has been rebuilt since a devastating fire and World War II bombardment.

  • Head east by train for two hours to visit the former trading hub of Rostock, where a local guide will show you through historic districts, cobblestone streets and Saint Mary’s Church with its intricate astronomical clock dating to 1472. Then visit the charming seaside town of Warnemünde to see the brightly painted gabled houses. Return to Hamburg by train.

  • A private driver will meet you at your hotel for a trip to Lübeck and Wismar, where you’ll spend the day on guided tours of both. Learn all about the cities’ history as you visit the Holstentor Gate, the sky-scraping spires of the Rathaus and the winding canals and red-brick buildings of Wismar’s old seaport.

  • Board a northbound train for a three-hour journey to the Frisian archipelago and the island of Sylt. Spend the afternoon with a private guide, enjoying an intimate look at the local flora and fauna as you walk through the mudflats, learning about the delicate and important ecosystem of the coastline.

  • Today’s tour highlights the salt and oysters that the island is known for. Begin at the Dittmeyer oyster company with a private tour and tasting. Then, head to the local salt manufacturer to better understand the process involved in making table salt, and even sample some of their own unique creations in beer, popcorn and dried pasta.

  • You’ll be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport in Sylt for your onward flight.
