White-faced capuchin, Pico Bonito National Park

Pico Bonito National Park

You depart from your hotel by 4x4 to the tropical forest of Pico Bonito. You follow several trails deep into the lush vegetation, spotting butterflies, birds and wildlife along the way.

When you walk along the Rio Zacate trail, there are beautiful views of the Caribbean coast and at the end reach the stunning Zacate waterfall.

You also hike along the "Cordillera Gracias a Dios", which has its highest peak in the park and will give you sweeping views of the surrounding park. Please note that it will take an hour and a half to walk to the peak up a combination of steep and gradual terrain and 50 minutes to climb down.

The most frequently seen wildlife are pizotes, howler and white-faced monkeys, butterflies and tropical forest birds such as toucans.
