Nicole

Japan specialist

My love for Japan began many years ago when I was offered the opportunity to live in Tokyo for three years. Immersing myself in the city’s vibrant culture, refined traditions, and unique rhythm of life left a lasting impression, and it was there that I met my husband, making Japan a deeply rooted part of our family story.

Although we later settled in the UK, our connection to Japan remains strong, and we return whenever we can. I take great joy in sharing this remarkable country with travellers who are curious to experience its beauty for themselves.

One of my favourite places is Mount Fuji, a breathtaking symbol of Japan’s natural splendour. Whether framed by the cherry blossoms in spring or the fiery foliage in autumn, it never fails to inspire. Just a few hours from Tokyo, it perfectly captures the magic that makes Japan so unforgettable.

When I’m not crafting bespoke itineraries for your dream holiday, you’ll find me spending time with my family, walking my two dogs, or planning my next adventure!

Q&A with Nicole

Aharen Beach, Okinawa, Japan

Where would you love to travel next?

On my next trip, I would love to go back to Japan and visit Okinawa and Kyushu. That's because Okinawa offers warm, turquoise seas and a relaxed island vibe, while Kyushu offers dramatic volcanoes, soothing hot springs, and incredible regional food, together creating a side of Japan that feels adventurous, authentic, and completely unforgettable.

Mount Fuji

What's your most vivid travel moment?

On a recent family trip to Japan, my most vivid memory came during our drive from Tokyo to Kawaguchi‑ko, when we reached the bend in the motorway where Mount Fuji suddenly fills the horizon, and watching my boys fall silent in awe at its majestic beauty, just as I did on my first visit years ago, was a moment of pure, unforgettable joy.

Okonomiyaki at Okonomimura in Hiroshima

What's the best local dish you've tasted?

Okonomiyaki is one of the first things I will eat when arriving in Japan. A savoury pancake loaded with cabbage, noodles, and a choice of pork, chicken, or prawns, cooked on a hot plate right in front of you and finished with rich sauces, hits all your favourite sensory buttons at once and goes down well with a cold Japanese beer.
