Peru & Brazil Specialist

South America captured my imagination from the moment I first visited back in 2021. What draws me back time and again is its incredible variety, from ancient civilisations and picturesque colonial cities to vast landscapes that often feel untouched by time.

Some of my most memorable experiences include exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu, seeing condors glide above me in the Colca Canyon and travelling through the Amazon rainforest. However, it was exploring independently across the continent that gave me a real appreciation for the different cultures, traditions and communities that make each destination unique.

Whether you're interested in fascinating Incan heritage, the history woven through South America's colonial cities or the region's extraordinary wildlife and natural wonders, I love helping clients discover the places that will resonate most with them and create memories of their own.

Q&A with Tim

Audley specialist Tim at Iguaçu Falls, Brazil

What’s your most vivid travel moment?

Without a doubt, seeing the Iguazu Falls for the first time is something I’ll never forget. There are hundreds of waterfalls stretching for nearly three kilometres, with an immense volume of water thundering over the cliffs, a sight that was both humbling and awe-inspiring. The sheer scale is impossible to appreciate until you're standing there, surrounded by the roar, mist, and power of nature. It felt as though the entire landscape was alive.

Peruvian ceviche

What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?

Whenever I’m in South America, the first dish I always order is the local ceviche. With traditional ingredients and bold, fresh flavours, you feel connected to the landscapes and cultures of Latin America with every bite.

Cuzco, Peru

What tips would you give for people who want to visit your specialty destination(s)?

My biggest piece of advice is to arrive with an open mind and a willingness to embrace the local culture. Latin America is very different from Europe, not only in terms of its landscapes and traditions, but also its history, pace of life and way of seeing the world. The people are incredibly warm and welcoming, and you'll encounter experiences, sights and flavours unlike anything you've known before. The more you immerse yourself in the local culture, engage with the people and step outside your comfort zone, the more rewarding and memorable your trip will be.
