Finca Valentina
Finca Valentina, Salta & The Northwest, Argentina
Finca Valentina is a rustic country house outside the city of Salta. It is owned by an Italian couple (Valentina is an architect who redesigned the property), who moved to the area in 2006 and sought to set up a small but comfortable retreat in the Puna.
There are just seven suites, five in the main house plus a separate two bedroom cottage. All rooms benefit from heated floors and either private patios or access to the gallery. There is no air conditioning; instead, the rooms are built to utilize the natural breeze.
Facilities include a lounge with a library and log fireplace, a dining room, gardens with a barbecue area and a swimming pool with a solarium. There is also free access to Wi-Fi within the house and two bicycles available for guests to borrow. Fresh food is made daily; with breakfast included and lunch and dinner offered on request. The owners also run an agency offering a variety of tours and excursions in the area.
Finca Valentina is a 25 minute drive from central Salta down a farm track. It's perfect for those looking for an authentic homestay; complete with dogs, children and space to relax. Although the exterior landscaping is sparse, the swimming pool is large and there is a good area for sunbathing; as well as a tastefully decorated living room and comfortable rooms furnished in a minimalist style with local textiles and homely touches. Valentina and her husband are on hand as they live next door, and they also provide cooking classes. Food here is delicious.
