Daintree Wilderness Lodge

A small and intimate lodge offering tranquility and total seclusion, set in the world heritage rainforest, Daintree Wilderness Lodge is one of the most natural hideaways in tropical north Queensland.

The lodge is just a 90 minute drive on sealed roads north of Cairns but feels a thousand miles away due to its unique and stunning setting. Just a handful of welcoming bungalows scattered throughout the forest offer complete privacy, with interconnecting boardwalks, en suite bathrooms, complimentary DVDs, and a glass viewing roof to allow you to experience the rainforest canopy from within your room. A minibar, and tea and coffee making facilities are also provided. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience featuring delicious fresh local seafood and tropical fruits, and the fully licensed bar boasts a range of specially selected wines.

There is also a natural rock pool deep in the fan palm rainforest, or cool down in crystal clear spring water in the outdoor spa.

A wide range of activities are available including horse riding, river wildlife cruises, sea kayaking and Great Barrier Reef snorkeling and diving trips. For those with a more leisurely inclination, there are wonderful beaches — Cow Bay and Thornton's Beach to explore, tropical fruit and ice-cream tastings, or just taking in the ambience of the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest.

The pristine nature of the rainforest on the property allows it to support a small, but vibrant, community of Cassowaries — a rare flightless bird that is the essence of Australia's wet tropics and a species becoming very rare indeed.
