On arrival in Port Lincoln you will be met by Gawler Ranges Safaris. Travel north through rolling farming land to the small town of Wudinna. Visit Wudinna Rock and continue into the Outback and watch as the scenery changes dramatically before reaching Mt Sturt and the fascinating Corribinnie Lakes. Experience the area's prolific wildlife as many different species thrive in this Outback environment. Visit multicolored ocher rocks that local Aboriginal people used to decorate themselves with for ceremonies by grinding the stone and making it into a brightly colored paint. Spend the afternoon exploring an ever-changing landscape where you will see emus, kangaroos, many different bird species and perhaps a wombat before driving through the rugged Gawler Ranges to Kangaluna Camp.
After breakfast at the camp enjoy an off-road drive to spectacular Lake Gairdner, which is like a piece of Antarctica, with its glistening white salt pan set in the middle of a rugged red landscape. Walk through the bush looking for some of the 146 species of birds recorded here or stroll out onto the lake for some excellent photo opportunities. See wedge tailed eagles' nests, unusual cigar shaped volcanic rock formations 1,500 million years old, and abundance of wildlife. In the afternoon, travel through a private sheep station and into a beautiful and remote gorge where you may spot rock wallabies before heading back to Kangaluna Camp.
Drive from Kangaluna Camp to the tiny seaside village of Baird Bay on the rugged northwest coast of the Eyre Peninsula. Board the MV Investigator for an unforgettable wildlife experience. On the five kilometer journey to a lagoon near Cape Radstock (at 160 meters, it is one of the highest sheer points on the southern coast of Australia) you can watch bottlenose dolphins ride the bow wave of the boat and even join these magnificent mammals in shallow water. Cross the bay to visit a resident colony of rare and very friendly Australian sea lions and experience playing face to face with these agile and inquisitive mammals as you wade in protected shallow lagoons. After lunch on the boat, leave Baird Bay and drive along the coast to visit Venus Bay before continuing south enjoying magnificent coastal scenery before arriving at Port Lincoln in time to catch a flight back to Adelaide.
