Proboscis monkey, Kinabatangan River

The Kinabatangan River

Proboscis monkey, Kinabatangan River

Guests will journey up one of the smaller tributaries of the Kinabatangan River such as the Menangle River. Wildlife abounds in this part of Borneo, and you may see chattering monkeys and many species of birds.

If you pause for a minute or two and keep quiet, you may be lucky enough to see a wild orangutan eating some fruit high up in the trees or a rhinoceros hornbill swooping overhead. Proboscis monkeys, with their massive noses, are only to be found in Borneo and most evenings troops of these monkeys come down to the riverbank to feed.

From your boat you have the perfect vantage point and your guide and boatman will try to ensure you have the best position from a photographic perspective.
