The family home of the English sailor and artist Thomas Somerscales is now a beautiful eight-bedroom hotel perched high on the colorful Cerro Alegre. Lovingly restored and decorated in period style, the hotel looks both over the famous Cerros of Valparaiso and the town's bay.
As well as antique furniture and reproductions of the work of Thomas Somerscales, each room has an internet connection, telephone, minibar and cable television. Downstairs in the tea room guests can enjoy a wide selection of traditional English teas and homemade cakes.
