Esplanade Zagreb Hotel

Esplanade Zagreb Hotel

Zagreb, Croatia

Built in 1925 as a stopover for Orient Express passengers journeying between Paris and Constantinople, this glamorous Art Deco style hotel has attracted a star-studded clientele throughout its history. Nowadays, the vibe here is still one of luxury, with the property’s grand façade concealing an elegant lobby with vaulted ceilings, magnificent chandeliers, and a marble staircase that sets the scene for the design that follows.

Referencing the building’s illustrious past, the 208 sophisticated and spacious rooms feature classic decor, lavish fabrics, original furniture, historic photographs, floral wallpaper, carpeted flooring, and soothing hues of beige, cream, and violet. Modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, comfortable beds with goose down pillows, and marble bathrooms with underfloor heating and walk-in showers.

Elsewhere, you’ll find an acclaimed restaurant for traditional Croatian dishes paired with fine regional wines, a smaller bistro for casual fare, and an inviting cocktail bar with indoor and outdoor seating. There’s also a health club with a large fitness area, a spa with a sauna, and a helpful concierge team who can advise on nearby attractions, including the parks and gardens surrounding the hotel.

OUR OPINION:

We love this glamorous hotel in Croatia’s north-western capital of Zagreb for its high level of service, interesting history, and lashings of Art Deco charm. It’s easily the most luxurious place to stay in the city.
