Arctic TreeHouse Hotel

Arctic TreeHouse Hotel

Finnish Lapland, Finland

Floor-to-ceiling windows invite the outdoors in at this cabin-style retreat close to Santa Claus Village.

The Nordic landscape is the star of the show at Arctic TreeHouse Hotel, where a collection of stilted cabins cascade down a pine-forested hillside. While it’s open year-round, the luxe resort comes into its own during the winter months. Snow settles thickly on the cabin rooftops and smooths out the bumpy Arctic ground, transforming it into a winter wonderland, just minutes from the official home of Santa Claus. During these months, you might also glimpse the northern lights from your floor-to-ceiling window.

Many cabins have an elevated nest bed for younger children, while some have two separate bedrooms and a private sauna. The five-pointed, snowflake-inspired central building houses a restaurant, where Arctic cuisine is served with a modern twist, and there’s also a snug spa and sauna on site. You can plan your days with the concierge, who can arrange heated sledge rides to and from Santa Claus Village (and the nearby airport), as well as snowshoeing and tobogganing.

OUR OPINION:

We recommend Arctic TreeHouse Hotel for families wanting a winter escape that balances Christmas excitement with a peaceful place to unwind and connect.

Rooms

Hugging the hillside, Arctic TreeHouse Hotel is made up of stilted, shingle-tiled cabins. They’re designed to resemble käpylehmä, handmade Finnish toy cows crafted with pinecone bodies and twig legs. Each has floor-to-ceiling windows that give you views of the forest and sky from your bed, while minimalist wooden decor and soft furnishings add warmth. Rooms range from an Arctic TreeHouse Suite, some of which have a raised nest bed big enough for a child, to the Arctic Scene Executive Suite, which has a separate bedroom and living space, a nest bed, two bathrooms, and a private sauna. For families, we particularly like the Arctic GlassHouse Suite, which has two bedrooms, plus a sofa bed and a private sauna.

Location

Arctic TreeHouse Hotel is just ten minutes’ drive from Rovaniemi Airport and Santa Claus Village, the home of Saint Nicholas himself. There are buses to and from the village during winter, and the hotel is also close to SantaPark, a festive theme park located in an underground cavern.
