Zip across snow-covered wilderness by dog sled, guided by a musher and their team of huskies.
Dog sledding has been a part of Finnish life for centuries, offering a fast-paced, exhilarating way to move across snow‑quilted landscapes as the eager yips of huskies fill the air. During this private experience, you’ll head to a local, family-run farm to meet your canine mushing team, spending time with the dogs and learning about their training and way of life. From there, you’ll head out into the white expanse of the Lappish wilderness, where an expert musher will guide you through the commands and techniques used in husky sledding.
A private driver will take you from your hotel to the farm, which has belonged to the same family for generations. On arrival, you’ll meet your lead musher, who’ll introduce you to their pack of huskies and explain the dogs’ social structure and group dynamics — at times, there might be puppies to meet, too. Then, you’ll take a quick lesson in steering before heading out on a 10-km (6-mile) journey through Finnish Lapland, icy winds and snow-covered landscapes whipping past you as you mush with your pack.
On your return to the farm, you can warm up with a hot drink and enjoy a traditional Lappish snack.
The experience lasts around three hours and includes private transfers to and from your hotel or lodge.
