Couvent des MInimes

Couvent des Minimes

France

Tucked between the old town and the sprawling Esquermes Park, Couvent des Minimes combines a convenient location with modern comforts. Once a 17th-century, red-brick convent, the building has been reincarnated as a hotel that offers a bold contemporary update on the Renaissance architecture.

A dramatic glass canopy covers the one-time cloisters. Under its sheltering protection, you can visit the hotel’s elegant Champagne bar, breakfast buffet area, and refined Le Jardin du Cloître restaurant.

The 83 generously sized rooms offer a comfortable, modern base for exploring the city. The decor is simple and modern, featuring heavy draperies. You’re located a short walk from Lille’s main sights, including the old town, the Vauban Citadel, and the Palace of Fine Arts, as well as the train and underground stations.

OUR OPINION:

We think this hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Lille, and love the building’s compelling history, especially when combined with its tasteful modern updates.

They all share a modern style that features a contrasting palette of soft- and deep-earth tones, with gleaming hardwood furniture and heavy drapes. All rooms come with all the standard amenities, including free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and white-marble bathrooms.

The larger Apartments offer enough room for four, with a bed and fold-out sleeping couch, as well as a dining area.
