  • Today you’ll travel to Oberammergau to watch the 42nd edition of Passion Play, returning to your hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen later this evening. During the Thirty Years War, plague swept across many parts of Europe, including Oberammergau. In 1633 the villagers made a vow to perform the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ every tenth year if they could be spared any more death. And so, in 1634, the first play took place and the promise has been kept ever since.
