A wonderfully unique hotel located in the heart of the old town. Of the 49 rooms, the 10 individually appointed suites (including arguably the most spectacular room in Java — the Apsara Residence) have a character all to themselves with artifacts from the owner's priceless antiques collection displayed for you to enjoy. The lead in rooms, Superior Deluxe, are pleasant if small. The Executive Deluxe are larger and have a private balcony.
These two categories are found on all three floors but we request upper floors for better views (as the hotel has no lift, please let us know if this may be a problem). A small but refreshing swimming pool is set in a beautifully manicured garden courtyard, while the spa and gallery are of the highest quality. Food plays a major part of any stay. When the sun sets behind the mountains of Malang, sit back and enjoy a special blend of Java tea and coffee and experience the traditional Javanese cakes at Tugu Tea House.
The atmospheric Ban Lam wine shop and bar has a beautiful ambience and a fine selection of wines from around the world. A private candlelight barbecue dinner under the stars is available at the poolside, or for elegant, private dining, the Raja Room (the Sugar Baron Room) brings back to life the colonial grandiose of Java in the end of 19th century.
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favorite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
