Ishigaki Island is one of Japan's southernmost Yaeyama Islands, only 75 miles from Taiwan.

The islands are semi-tropical and offer beaches, diving and snorkeling, jungle walks, hot springs and various other resort activities.

Around Ishigaki

Snorkelling on Ishigaki IslandThrough your hotel you can book tours to other islands in the Yaeyama chain, including Iriomote, home to the famously endangered Iriomote lynx, and Taketomi with its star-sand beaches.

Foreign visitors to the Yaeyama are few and far between, making travel here a little more challenging for non-Japanese speakers but allowing you to experience a truly authentic Japanese vacation lifestyle.
