Kaleta is the best of the properties in Fort Dauphin and we certainly recommend visiting the patisserie during your stay here - the freshly baked pastries are delicious!

Croix du Sud is a colonial style building designed over two levels around a courtyard garden.
From the outside Madagascar's historic links to France are clear to see in the steep sloping metal roofs and ornate wooden carvings along the roof line.
All of the 30 rooms face inwards to the courtyard and have a small terrace or balcony to sit out on. Inside rooms are clean and fresh looking, with brightly painted walls and large windows looking out into the garden. Each room has satellite television, air-conditioning and an en suite bathroom.
Meals are currently taken next door, a few hundred yards away at the Dauphin Hotel. The restaurant here looks over the gardens, and in the morning the windows and doors are flung open to let in the air. Meals are good quality French food, with an emphasis on seafood.
There are plans afoot to build a small breakfast area at the Croix du Sud itself, but as with many plans in Madagascar, we await firm confirmation of this!
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favorite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
