My love for North America began when working as an online curator for the Whistler Museum. It was on my return to the UK in 2012 that I began my career working at Audley Travel in the Witney office. After a few years, adventures came calling again, and I spent a year’s sabbatical traveling the world, including Mongolia, Nepal, and Vietnam, to name a few. I’m now lucky to work from my home in the Lake District, which I share with my partner and two little boys.
I’ve completed several extensive research trips around Canada, Alaska, and the Arctic. A few of my standout highlights include: joining a small expedition ship around the coast of Alaska, multi-day heli-hiking in the Bugaboo National Park, traveling across the Rocky Mountains by rail, driving the Top of the World Highway in the Yukon, exploring the Canadian Arctic looking for Polar bears by tundra buggy, going from Greenland to Baffin Island by ship, watching the northern lights, and following in the footsteps of legendary explorers.

Q&A with Anna
Your best piece of travel advice?
I highly recommend self-driving in Canada and Alaska, as it allows you to explore more thoroughly. When traveling through some of the most popular areas of Western Canada, I'd suggest being open to visiting towns and traveling routes that may not initially be on your radar. You’ll see equally beautiful sights but with more authentic places to stay, at less cost, and you’ll be surrounded by far fewer people, too.
What’s your most vivid travel moment?
Flying into Katmai National Park, Alaska, by small bush plane is a standout moment. The flight alone, over fjords, glaciers, and volcanoes, was one of the best experiences I’ve had, but there was more to come. As we approached our runway or beach, I saw small dots scattered across the landscape. It was only as we got nearer that I realized they were the massive grizzlies we’d come to see. We jumped out of the plane onto the same shores and trails the bears inhabited, and waded through the salmon-filled rivers, observing them as they went about their day-to-day lives. It was exhilarating in every way.
Where would you love to travel next?
I’d love to take my family to Vancouver Island to show them the wildlife, coastal rainforests, and to learn more about the rich First Nations culture. Exploring the endless sandy beaches of Tofino at sunset with my toddlers would be a dream. A wilderness safari lodge would have to be included, too.
