With sweeping views of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Peninsula Suites has a tranquil location on the waterfront just outside Homer, Alaska. It is set on a large site with its five spacious cabins well spaced across clipped lawns.
The cabins are individually designed and decorated with The Puffin offering the most traditional and intimate space. There are two 'dens' built into the coastal headland as well as a log yurt and the two-storey Eagle's Nest cabin. All are rustic but comfortable with handmade furniture, patchwork quilts and private decks with impressive views. Each has a small kitchenette as well as a large TV, private bathroom and complimentary wireless internet access.
The property also has a fire pit and a hot tub, both of which offer panoramic views over the bay. Although there is no restaurant on site, each cabin has its own barbecue if you would like to cook. Alternatively, there is a good choice of restaurants and cafés just a few minutes' drive away in Homer.
Although out of town and so a short drive from the restaurants, it is well worth it for the views over Kachemak Bay. This is one of the best places to watch the sunset from your private deck.

Photos of Kenai Peninsula Suites
The quirky rooms at Kenai Peninsula Suites vary from two barrel-vaulted dens built into a hillside to a wooden yurt. The Wolf's Den and the Bear's Den feature grass roofs and mountain silhouettes painted on their walls, while the two-storey Puffin, a log yurt, has a bedroom downstairs and the bathroom upstairs in the vaulted ceiling. The Eagle's Nest is also two-storey and has a large deck offering sweeping views, while The Otter is the most intimate and conventional space. All the rooms have furniture handmade from local spruce, patchwork quilts and ocean or mountain views as well as a kitchenette, plasma TV and DVD player, complimentary Wi-Fi and private deck.
The lodge sits on the waterfront just off the Sterling Highway 6.4 km (4 miles) from the vibrant town of Homer. Although you'll have to drive to reach the restaurants in town, the tranquil location and sweeping views offered more than make up for it.
