The Inn at Houmas House

The Inn at Houmas House is nestled within 38 lush acres of gardens, ponds and a majestic live oak alley. The first owners of this plantation were the indigenous Houmas Indians, who were given a land grant to occupy the fertile plain between the Mississippi and Lake Maurepas to the north. Today, the mansion reflects the best parts of each period in its rich history alongside the Mississippi River. A tour of the grand antebellum estate is included in your stay here. The property features 16 rooms filled with period antiques and Louisiana artwork.

Accommodation is provided in cottages scattered among the beautiful gardens. Each interior depicts historic structures that once graced Uncle Sam Plantation, which was located downriver from Houmas House. Each is complete with a single king or queen size bed, or double queen beds, marble bathrooms and a porch to enjoy the view. Breakfast, Wi-Fi access and parking are included.

There are two dining options onsite: the Carriage House (open every day) which offers fine dining with a casual atmosphere, and Latil's Landing (open Wednesday to Sunday), which is located in the 230-year-old French house; offering an historic ambience to your dining experience. Please note that due to the remote location of the property, both restaurants can get quite busy; we therefore recommend pre-booking a table for dinner — please let your consultant know if you would like to do this.
