Located a short distance from the town of Talkeetna and set high on a ridge with views over Denali and the Alaskan Range, this rustic lodge consists of several log buildings with clean, comfortable rooms overlooking the mountains or forest. The large main lobby is a good area to relax, and it has a showpiece fireplace.
There are several dining options on site, including a bistro restaurant, a bar, and a coffee shop. The lodge has no real facilities to speak of, but it makes an excellent, comfortable base for exploring the nearby mountains and wilderness.
OUR OPINION:
Despite the lodge’s simplicity, we like its warm and welcoming ambience, good dining options, and views over the mountains.

Rooms
The lodge consists of 212 rooms featuring king or queen beds. Some of these rooms offer mountain views. All rooms have a private bathroom, coffee facilities, TVs and Wi-Fi. In addition, suites have Jacuzzis, fireplaces and views of Denali.
Location
From its vantage point above the town of Talkeetna, the lodge enjoys views of Denali National Park and the mountains of the Alaskan Range. 3.2 km (2 miles) away from Talkeetna, it’s around a 45-minute walk (or a short drive) to the town’s shops and restaurants. There’s also a complimentary shuttle service to and from Talkeetna, provided by the lodge.
Food and drink
A number of dining options are available at the lodge. The award-winning Foraker Restaurant offers fine dining in the evenings with views across the mountains. For a more relaxed setting, there’s the Base Camp Bistro offering casual, family-friendly dining. The bistro is open for lunch and dinner. Base Camp Lounge is open throughout the afternoons and evenings, while Tokosha, a coffee shop, is open throughout the day and sells sandwiches, drinks and snacks. If you don’t fancy eating at the lodge, there are some excellent choices in the nearby town of Talkeetna.
