My 50th birthday is on 31st October and my husband and I would like to take a very special 2 - 3 week holiday. We would ideally like to stay in first class accommodation where we can relax, but which is close to a city or area where there are sites/activities which we can see if we wish to. We are not averse to some driving or a two centre holiday. Our budget is around £3000 in total.
We are looking to take a family holiday over Christmas for 10 or 12 days. The children are 17, 20 and 21, so we don't need kiddy type activities. We all need a good balance between rest and activity. We would like to be in the sun, and 'A' level re-sits happen in the first week of January, so study time and not too much jet lag are important! Help!
Getting under the skin of a culture and really getting to know the people is challenging anywhere in a two to three week trip. This is especially the case in Japan, with traditional reserve sometimes holding people back. Here Lyn Hughes, Editor-in-Chief of Wanderlust magazine, experiences a great way to get to know the locals a little better — all whilst learning a new style of cooking!
We are looking for a really, seriously wonderful holiday of a lifetime for my sister's 40th birthday. It is in February and we would want to be warm. We have thought about all kinds of adventures but have had to rule many out as she has children that would come with us, the youngest of whom will be only a year by then. Money is no object, but a real wow factor is essential. Her husband isn't keen on South Africa or anywhere vaguely unsafe like Sri Lanka and Israel. Help!
My husband and I are looking for a 2-3 week holiday. We prefer to travel May to July or September. We can't do too much sun or heat or much cold at all! Our interests include cultural/historical places, exploring everyday local life, local markets and learning about local people and customs. I'd like a little photography, some exploration of religious traditions and just some plain relaxing. We want some luxury as part of the holiday (near the end) but we don't do beach holidays. We're looking at Southern India but it may be a bit hot then... our budget is around £2k per person. Any help appreciated!
There is nothing better than getting on the open road and exploring a country from the comfort of your own, air conditioned car, whether on a self-drive or with your own driver. Combine this with beautiful coastal scenery and you have the makings of a spectacular holiday.
