Eat the tribal way in Sarawak, Borneo
The cultural village in Sarawak comprises six dwellings which are inhabited by tribes people who demonstrate local arts and crafts including basketry and weaving, blow pipe shooting, top spinning and sago processing.
Whilst exploring the Lemanak River with your Iban guide, you will be treated to a delicious lunch steamed the traditional way within bamboo tubes on an open fire on the banks of the river.
Go local at an insect market, Vientiane, Laos
Not for the faint-hearted! Lak Saojet Market boasts a range of local delicacies including ant eggs and insects.
In addition there's Laos's national fiery dish of laap, or you could try tasting a fine Lao coffee or even accepting an invite to drink the potent Lao Lao, a strange rice wine blend that will knock your socks off!
Tuck into street food in Vietnam
This is one of the best and cheapest ways to experience authentic local cuisine and no food is more iconic here than pho (noodle soup).
If in Hanoi, take our early bird tour by cycle which finishes up in a historical pho eatery for breakfast. Hot, fragrant broth is ladled over rice noodles and topped with tasty beef or chicken and herbs.
