Set among beautiful apricot orchards, Chulli Bagh offers a unique stay in the picturesque, quaint village of Stok. The owners being the royal family of Stok, had access to ample land however, they consciously decided to build just three villas to offer a peaceful stay. Each villa comprises of two bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a lounge area, and a small kitchenette. The decor is modern and fresh yet keeping in with its beautiful surroundings. Each villa also has a gazebo and a bonfire pit for you to enjoy the outdoors.

There is a small restaurant and bar that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with ample outdoor space to enjoy views of the might Stok range. Boasting several outdoor dining options, you can enjoy breakfast even on the patio area that looks out into this ancient garden scape which by intention have been left un-manicured, to retain its natural charm. For a regal touch, guests can also visit Chulli Bagh’s sister property, Stok Palace, just a short walk away to enjoy a meal in their royal dining area. Explore the village on foot with its white-washed Chortens and mud-brick homes strewn across barley fields, which brings alive a way of life that has not seen much change over centuries.

OUR OPINION:

As a property owned by the royal family of Stok, Chulli Bagh offers a rare opportunity to stay in a place deeply connected to history while enjoying modern comforts. With only three villas, the experience is private and personalized. Being away from Leh town with views of the Stok palace, it provides a peaceful retreat, offering an authentic village experience.

Rooms

Set among an ancient apricot, walnut, and willow trees, the retreat features three thoughtfully designed villas, built using sustainable architecture and locally sourced materials. Each villa offers two cozy, private bedrooms that open into a shared lounge with a small kitchenette and a sitting area overlooking the orchards. Designed for relaxation, they feature a gazebo and a bonfire pit where you can unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

Chulli Bagh is located fifteen kilometers from Leh town, in the tiny village of Stok, nestled within an apricot and walnut orchard. It offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape and is just a ten-minute walk from the palace.

Staying true to its ethos of providing an intimate experience, Chulli Bagh features a charming restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with outdoor seating offering breathtaking views of the Stok range. Whether dining on the patio or choosing another scenic spot, every meal is enjoyed in harmony with nature. A stay here pairs beautifully with a visit to Stok Palace, where guests can lesser-known local delicacies. With the royal family still residing at the palace, a meal here can become truly special, as they may join guests upon request, adding a personal touch to the experience.

Set away from Leh town in the peaceful village of Stok, Chulli Bagh is a place to slow down and take in the quiet surroundings. In April, the apricot trees burst into bloom, adding a seasonal charm to the landscape. A stroll through the village is highly recommended, offering a glimpse into its timeless way of life. For a more immersive experience, a visit to a local home can be arranged upon request, where one can enjoy a warm cup of butter tea or Chhaang, a traditional barley-based brew.
