The Apricot Tree Hotel

The Apricot Tree Hotel

Ladakh, India

Apricot Tree Hotel sits just outside Nurla village, overlooking the Indus River, offering a quiet and comfortable stay in Ladakh. Founded by Wangchuk Tsering Fargo, who grew up in the village, the hotel reflects a deep connection to the land, surrounded by barley fields, apricot orchards, and grazing livestock.

At its center is a pebbled courtyard, where guests often gather around a campfire, sharing stories over warm drinks under the night sky. The hotel has 18 simple yet inviting rooms, each featuring art by emerging Ladakhi artists, with attached bathrooms and modern amenities. Private balconies offer views of the Indus River, and a short path leads directly to the riverbanks.

The restaurant, with its Indus-facing views, serves Ladakhi and international dishes, blending local flavors with familiar options. Because of its lower altitude than Leh town, it’s a comfortable place to acclimatize. The monasteries of Alchi and Likir are just a short drive away, making the hotel a convenient base for exploring Ladakh’s history and culture.

OUR OPINION:

Apricot Tree is an ideal stopover for travellers preparing to cross the high passes into the valleys of the higher Himalayas. At the same time, with Alchi and Likir monasteries nearby, it also serves as a convenient base for exploring Ladakh’s rich heritage.
