The comfortable rooms and amenities make it easy to relax after a day of exploring, and the minimalist design provides a modern take of Japanese style amid the classic buildings and temples. The lobby and corridors look out over a small Japanese garden.

The food choices are of excellent quality, particularly the vast Kyoto-style breakfast buffet, and the free public bath is a great way to unwind.

OUR OPINION:

This hotel's convenient location a few minutes from the heart of Gion, and its unique boutique style, make it a great option in Kyoto. There is a great on-site restaurant, although do bear in mind that they only serve a set menu, which is priced at a premium.

Rooms

Rooms provide all expected basics such as en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi, as well as yukata robes. While the design and décor of the standard rooms are plain, they are more spacious than the average Japanese hotel room. The junior suites step up their design to match the modernity of the common spaces, and have fun extras such as local green teas.

Just beyond Pontocho, Nishiki Market is a haven for shoppers looking for Kyoto souvenirs and foodies seeking street snacks.
