Set on a private beach in a secluded location north of lively Nha Trang, Mia Nha Trang is a sleek, modern resort with a wide range of facilities. The property hugs the cliffside leading down to the beach and offers panoramic views of the coastline with Nha Trang in the distance.

Inside, pale woods, exposed stone and minimalist styling give the hotel a chic air and the large choice of room and villa options means couples and families are equally well catered for. There are two restaurants on the waterfront serving a range of fresh seafood, Vietnamese and Italian dishes, as well as hosting regular special food events such as Asian barbecues.

Along with a long stretch of golden beach with calm waters, the hotel has a large swimming pool, a spa and a gym. Activities include water sports such as snorkeling, paddleboarding and kayaking, or you could visit local markets and then learn to cook the ingredients with a hotel chef.

The hotel is located close to Cai Rang Airport and around 30 minutes from Nha Trang. Transfers are available for those wishing to sample a more local selection of cuisine.

OUR OPINION:

We love the quiet location, calm beach and contemporary styling at the Mia Nha Trang. There are enough facilities that there's no reason to leave but transfers are available should you wish to explore the local town.

Rooms

Exposed stone walls and carved wood screens give the spacious condos, villas and suites a sleek, contemporary style. Pale woods and fabrics contrast with splashes of bright pink, turquoise or yellow in the cushions and the garden or ocean views provide a constantly calming scene outside. All rooms have private terraces with seating as well as air conditioning, high speed Wi-Fi, widescreen TV and an iPod docking station, while Beachfront and Cliff villas, as well as the Mia suites, have a private pool.

Location

Mia Nha Trang sits on a private beach about 25 km (15 miles) north of Nha Trang, a lively beach town on a turquoise bay. A free shuttle service makes the journey three times a day should you wish to explore the city's ancient Cham towers or buzzing nightlife. Cai Rang airport is just 15 km (9 miles) away.

Food and drink

Sandals, the main restaurant on the beachfront, has a focus on seafood but also hosts regular weekly food events with an Asian barbecue evening, Italian evening or Vietnamese buffet nights. La Baia Italian on the cove serves classic Italian dishes throughout the week. Guests can also opt for private dining in their villa with a personal chef. For drinks and cocktails, Mojito's Bar & Lounge provides a laid-back, beachside location for unwinding.

Families

The hotel caters well for families with multi-room condos and villas offering enough space for larger groups. Extra beds can be added to rooms, there's a children's pool, the sea is calm enough to swim in and children's menus are available. Babysitting can be arranged and there's a kids' entertainment room by the main restaurant if you want to linger over a meal.

Facilities and activities

With so many activities and facilities there's little need to leave the hotel. There's a spa that combines traditional and modern techniques in open-fronted treatment rooms, free yoga sessions on the beach, tennis, a gym and a large pool. Cooking classes and boat trips are available and the sea here is generally calm so snorkeling, paddleboarding and kayaking are all possibilities.
